Bangkok Dairy (9th December 2002)

Again another tourist spot in Asia. Bangkok is the city which has become capital of Thai land in mid 18th century. Now it is very famous for shopping, food and tourists. The Thai traditoin is well known across world as Thai food.
The Bangkokians and most Thai people called "Bangkok" as "Krungthep" which means the City of Angels. Believe it or not? The official full name of Bangkok wins the Guinness Book Records as the longest place name. See if you could read it:-
"Krungthep Maha Nakorn Amorn Ratanakosindra Mahindrayudhya, Mahadilokpop Noparatana Rajthani Burirom Udom Rajnivet Mahastan Amorn Pimarn Avatarn Satit Sakkatuttiya Vishnukarm Prasit."
About city: Bangkok is well developed city with good infrastrucutre and facilities. Bangkok and Thai land is very cheap to live. THe cost of living is very less. For the first time I felt that India is a costly place to live. I will talk about this later.Traffic jams are very common in Bangkok.. as all the taxis are air conditoined.. u will definitely get a nice sleep :-) U have Taxis, auto rikshaws and two wheeler taxis.. (yes.. u can go on bike.. not renting.. a driver will be there who will take u)If u want to escape traffic jams, two wheelers are best.. but I have not tried them as my clients warned me not to go with them.
Culture:This mail is not enough to talk about Thai culture. They are basically Hindus and Budhists. They have many similarities with Indian tradtion and culture. They have their own version of Ramayana and Hindu culture. Infact..most of the professors believe that "God Hanuma (ANjaneya) has come from Thai land into the books of Ramayana"As Hanuma is famous here.. Rama also famous. The current King name is Rama IX..(U can see how famous that name is).. THeir ramayana is a bit different..but basically same.. U can see the Vanara sena fighting with monsters on many paintings here.. Surprisingly their old temples have monsters as gate keepers..(what that mean???)Another fair tale they believe here is the story of byravana .. (Do u know who he is??) He is the monster who put Hanuma's son as gatekeeper to him empire.. SUrprised?? from where we got Hanuma's son.. In some of Telugu movies also this is there.. There is a tale which says once a fish had Hanuma's sweat and had given birth to a baby..Nice story.. Probably Hanuma felt romantic seeing the cultural and traditional beauty of Bangkok..Now coming to Budhist culture..here both budhist and hindu culture is mixed. The world famous emarald Budha is in bangkok. Emarald in Thai means grean not the precious stone. That Grand palace is an amazaing place for worship. I have seen the Michel Angelo's Museum in Vatican City.. THis is also as good as that.. An exstradinory place to watch that place.. It is not as big as Vatican city museum but definitely worth watching..Most of the building and sculptures are made of gold and braonze and gr8 sight to watch. Most of the sight seeing places are near Grand Palace. THere is another gr8 budhist center.. 67meters tall temple.. which is extremely good for sun set on the bank of river. Just 15 minutes away from Grand palace. There are many such spots are there.. but no time for me to see..Here another tale.. Then emarald Budha is found to a vilalger long ago..King sent his elephant to get the Budha statue to his palace.. three times he sent hus elephant all the times the elephant run away when it come close to the statue.. (Do not know how true.. book information..) Within short time i know so many stories here.. I cannot put them in one mail..( I will send u the pictures after some days..)Here the people believe that Kings are ancestors of Devas (Gods) who involved in churning pala samundra.. ( Ocean of Milk which Gods and Monsters churn using Vasuki snake???) So many resembless they have with Indian culture.. so obviously i cannot put in one mail..
Thai food: Ohh!! really mouth watering food.. Especially noodles varieties and soups are just excellent.. U find food on road side like India.. every 10 meters.. so much famous the food is here..Lot of varieties.. One nice thing here.. is there is vegetarian concept here.. Their food mostly resemble Indian food. I mean they have concept of curry and gravy etc. Whatever I told about food it is less. But donot believe me.. I like any kind of food...So better u try it out.. I tried many traditoinal Thai food.. Thang wah*** Too spicy.. they also nice. Some are just zero salt zero spice.. they also nice.. :-)
Bangkok Shopping: Ohhh!! my goodness.. u will become mad by looking at the price here.. We have seen only big super bazaar that too only once.. The dresses comes atleast 50% of Indian price.. I am not joking... so cheap they are and the quality is tooo good. Just imagine how the price on small shops.. Bangkok is better place for shopping than travellers..Though i donot like any shopping, I could not stop temptation of looking the shops...A very good formal dress wear u get for Rs. 1000.. which will cost more than Rs. 2000 in India..But i donot like shopping and no time for that toooo.. Not only cloths.. anything is cheap if u compare with Indian price.. Even the hotels are damn cheap.. We are staying in 5 start apartment which has 10 far better than Mumbai Oberoi in facilities and half of that price.. Everything is very cheap here..
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING NOW.........TO come to THai Land, Indians (infact many country citizens) do not require VISA. U can come to THai land without VISA and get VISA in bangkok airport. (VISA ON ARRIVAL) THis is valid for 15 days as tourists and cost u Rs. 330...Many people come here for shopping like this..
So how many of u are planning for shopping here??
We are lucky here.. that King's birthday was on 4th December and this is the biggest festival here. King is God here. Whole Bangkok is decorated with lights.. and around 1 Lakh people gathered near Grand Palace when we entered......

South Korea Dairy (21-Oct-2002)

For all travel freaking people... this is my South Korea dairy... I have not seen much places...in fact missed one good trek here..I wrote this in 21st Oct 2002. Publishing now on demand.

There are 40% Budhists and 40% Christians and 10% Free people (no religion) here. That makes them mixed culture. South Korea is a small place..U can travel any city within one hour.. like European countries. The cities are well developed (not as much Europe). There are still some dark places in the city. They donot talk in English.. but people are very helpful and friendly. First stance we may feel that they are very harsh cause they donot talk directly. But that is what their tradition... u need to get introduced. Once u get introduced, you are part of their friends relation..then you can not imagine the support you get.

Koreans are now ruling the Hardware world. They are the people who started hardware revolution along with Japan. Just in recent times they get into software. The country economy is mainly controled by three big companies. Hundai, Samsung and LG.

FYI: some shocking statistics............

CDMA technology is first introduced in Korea and tested here.

Korea is the country with maximum percentage of mobile users in the world. They always walk with mobiles.. sending SMS etc. Here you find landline phone rarely.

Korea is the country with highest percentage of automobile (car) users..

Nice palce to see in Korea is obviously Seol. There are some good parks and historical places. The famous Seol Church (One ofthe biggest church in the world). ( I remeber the story which I read in 5th class I think... a little gal gives her life to keep the bell on the church.) This is the oldest protestant church in the Korea. Then we saw traditional Korean Palaces.. Nice traditional dance and palace. They are far better than French castles..

There are some good moutains for trekking. (I missed )

Samsung is really big company here in Suwan city. Just like Philips in Eindhovan..Samsung is everything in Suwan. There are two football stadiums in the office and basket ball grounds etc. There is one helipad inside the campus.

Best thing I enjoyed is Korean traditional food.. they eat everything and anything like me...Till now all the Indians who came here faced problems with their eating habbits. Actor Dharmendra might like this palce very much becasue...here everybody says "Khutte my tere khoon pivungaa aur meat kavungaa" .... Dog meat is Koreans traditional food.

We were taken to lunch on the first day in a hotel...

In Hotels, they sit on the ground and there will be stoves on the small tables infront of you. We all sat around the table and they ordered see food. (It is respect to offer see food to new friends)..Then they first bought a wounderful aquarium and put that on the table with different fishes. I was enjoying looking at the fishes suddenly they lit the stove down........kevvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv they are boiling the fishes... that is for eating...........Somehow I made myself ready...The fishes were trying to come out because of heat..and they are again keeping them inside...I could not see that...(BUDHISM?????)

Then once food was half boiled..they started eating....and my collegues were not able to eat that... but I enjoyed everything...Crabs, Sushi, Fish, Octopus...donot know what else went inside...but it was very tasty... all and all thats my first Korea expirience.

Books - THE SECRET

Let me open a discussion forum for Books.
The books I am recommending is "THE SECRET" by "Rhonda Byrne". This book makes a lot of influence on people's "Positive Thinking" and the understanding of "Law of Attraction".

It's one great book, I have read in recent time and strongly feel it works. This book also is in the form of movie.

నా తొలి పద్యం

Today is Srirama Navami. when I wrote my first poem in telugu in my tenth class, I dedicated it to the Lord Sri Rama. I am just remembering that one on this special day.

కొత్త యేడు (రు)

MyPoem published in http://thatstelugu.oneindia.in/sahiti/kavitha/poem-by-sreenath.html.

My poem published in www.thatstelugu.com on 11-Nov-2005.

Mother Ganga (The Ganges River)

Visited Ganga on 8th January at Rishikesh for the first time in life. Its a great view to see the pure and young Ganga. This is the place where so many thousands of great Indian Saints lived, died, worshiped and attained knowledge.

This is one of the first place where Ganga comes down from Himalayas onto the ground. It brings the great amount of Aushada(Medicine) from the Himalayas Purity and clear forests. The water of Ganga is sacred to Hindhus by Dharma (Law) and good for anybody as it carries lot of medicine to pure your impure body. The water taken here can be preserved for 10 to 15 years without any problem. That is the power of Mother Ganga at its best.

So many great people worshiped Lord Shiva and Mother Ganga here. Sri Rama in Threta Yuga and Pandavas in Dwapara Youga did the meditation to attain self control and get rid of their sins due to the great wars.

The place even today is very sacred and maintained well. Pure Ganga water here is definite medicine.
