Mambo?, (as they address/What's Up, in Swahili). Apparently, you would reply "Poa!", for "I'm Cool!" ;)
This small news story from somewhere in Kenya, in the attached doc..
came in a mail out of the blue.., which tickled me pink with surprise and put me into a stunned silence!!,
because You would Never expect that a small thing that popped out of your head will reach that far to touch someone in Africa, and that it will come back to you years later with such a drama around it, and even more unexpected, that you'll get to hear it this way.
The Seagull in me feels quite amazed by such fortuitous turn of events, and feeling luckier, getting to savour such stories!..
It's in a mail from an ex-colleague at Samsung India Software Operations, Bangalore..
[ Related to the patent-idea (that I had submitted in 2004 for tracking stolen mobile phones) from which a team there implemented the software currently in Samsung phones. The feature can be seen in the menu as 'Mobile Tracker' under 'Settings>>Security'. ]
{
Digressing to tell another story the mail triggered:
I guess it's this friend who highlighted my name in red in the mail below,
since in Korean culture they don't write any living person's name in red
as they do it only for people who are dead! ;) They take particular care to remove any such in emails as well.
I had this curious experience while at Samsung Korea,
once during a meeting when one Indian colleague wrote a teammate's name with red marker on the whiteboard,
which a Korean collegue immediately got up to wipe clean and re-wrote the name with blue, while the bemused guy looked on! ;)
}

Dear SISOites,
It gives me great joy to announce to you that one of our solutions (Mobile Tracker) has created a big differentiation for our mobile phones not just in India but around the world. Found below is an image which was published on the "Login" screen of ALL Samsung Group Employees (except overseas R&D centers). Imagine the reach !!!
Mobile Tracker Solution was conceived, developed and deployed by our own engineers. We want to encourage all of you to continue to make efforts to bring such laurels both to yourself and the organization.
Congratulations to the Mobile Tracker Team (Sujith Chandran, Sreenath Reddy Konda, Mohan Rao, Morla, Balaji V.R, Sheshagiri Rao, Pawan Kumar A, Abhijit Sarkar, Hari Babu and few others) for this remarkable achievement.
You can also read the mail of appreciation from our end customer who is a resident of Kenya.
